Chris Cassaday

Chris Cassaday is a folk-funk singer/songwriter from Arlington, Virginia. Over the past 4 years, Chris has performed at hundreds of different venues in Washington DC, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Colorado, New York, Florida, Hawaii and even Ireland. He graduated from James Madison University where he regularly performed as a solo acoustic act, as well as with several different bands. Since leaving JMU, music has become more than just a hobby for Chris, but rather Chris's passion and second job. In the past year alone, Chris has played over 100 shows at some of the best venues the Washington DC area has to offer, including but not limited to: Gypsy Sally's, The Velvet Lounge, IOTA, Songbyrd Cafe, Jammin' Java, and The Bullpen at National's Park; in addition to performing at popular venues all up and down the east coast.

Chris independently released his first professionally recorded album "The Savannah Sessions" on all digital outlets (iTunes, spotify, etc.) on May 25th, 2015. The album received widespread support and great reviews on all digital outlets. The album was mixed and produced by Ted Bowne, one of Chris's greatest influences and the lead singer of the award winning rock-reggae band Passafire. “The Savannah Sessions” is available on iTunes, Spotify, Napster, Google Play, and youtube.

Chris's original song "My Oh My" off of the album was sought out by Sirius XM radio and is now being played regularly on Sirius XM's the Coffee House (Channel 14). Chris also performed a 5-song live session for Sirius XM in September 2015 that was featured on the Coffee House as well. "My Oh My" was also given an honorable mention at the 27th Rocky Mountain Folk Festival in Lyons, Colorado on August 18, 2017.

After two years of extensive live performances and touring, Chris independently released his next studio effort "Stranger Places" on April 10th, 2017 on all digital music outlets. This album was also produced and mixed by Ted Bowne from Passafire, and response to the release has been extremely positive, exposing Chris to a larger, more diverse audience up and down the east coast.

Chris has been featured as a guest on many music-centered radio programs, most recently being featured on "Voices From The DMV", and "DC Music Rocks", two radio shows airing on 96.7 FM in Arlington and the Washington DC area. Chris was also interviewed and performed on CBS radio's "Weekend Round-Up" podcast. The performance/interview aired on 7 different CBS radio stations around the country.

During his live performances, Chris includes the use of a looper pedal and other interesting effects, giving his solo performances a one-man-band type of appeal and the ability to keep large crowds entertained and dancing.

Chris recently co-founded a funk-blues-rock fusion three-piece band called The Cassaday Concoction. The band consists of local Washington DC music scene veterans Bryan Moran (bassist, Katita & The Fajitas) and Miles Lieder (drummer, Dale and The Zdubs). Each member's eclectic mix of musical backgrounds gives the band's sound a unique and powerful edge, luring the audience in with catchy harmonies, hard-punching rock and roll, and classic crowd-favorite covers. The group regularly performs around the Washington, DC area.

Chris's unique blend of blues, folk and funk, his crafty songwriting style, his unpredictable set lists, and his thunderous, distinctive voice have gathered him a significant following around his hometown and other parts of the DMV. He continues to play all up and down the east coast, and looks forward to eventually travelling across the country to share his music with the masses.
