DJ Two Teks (Bang Bang)

Immersed in the hip hop subculture of the 1980s, AJ Naylor a.k.a. DJ
TwoTeks taught himself how to cut and scratch on Technics 1200s by
mimicking the sounds of DJ Jazzy Jeff, Eric B, and Jam Master Jay.
From there, he studied VHS tapes by the Invisible Scratch Pickles, DJ
Qbert, and DMC World DJ Championships competitions to refine his beat
juggling skills.

In the 1990s, he was featured on rap albums of local artists in
Frederick, MD, and released a series of mixtapes. In 2002, DJ TwoTeks
attended class at Scratch DJ Academy in New York City, NY and further
honed his skillset by studying under DJ I.Emerge, DJ Evil Dee, Rob
Swift, Mista Sinista, and Neil Armstrong. He started out as a battle
DJ, and has been scratching and beat juggling for the majority of his
career.

DJ TwoTeks does limit himself to any particular genre of sub-genre of
music, which is evident his sets and digital music collection. He has
DJ'd at venues in San Diego, CA; Washington, DC; Frederick and
Baltimore, MD; Boston, MA; and New York City, NY alongside DJ Craze,
DJ Qbert, Biz Markie and Sharkey. Currently, he is the resident DJ of
a monthly party held in downtown Frederick.

Band Of Tomorrow

Band Of Tomorrow

“The Band of Tomorrow ping-pongs between genres and weaves together harmonic sections in a way no other band would dare to. In the same way, their pre-written lyrics don’t shy away from any subject, nor does any special guest find it challenging to make a Band of Tomorrow song their own. This Band structures its mission around an unpredictable and transformative experience - always high energy, always premium quality, based often in familiar melodies and intellectual lyrics, but exploring improvised ideas with every new layer.

“Redefining what it means to make music in this time and bringing audiences to new highs at festivals and venues across the Eastern Seaboard, including DC’s venerated 9:30 Club and the Firefly Music Festival, the Band of Tomorrow is not one to miss.” - Carly Shields, Ever Upward Entertainment, Denver, CO

The Stone Eye // Omen Stone // The Age of Truth // Marshal Fuzz

The Stone Eye (Philadelphia, PA) https://thestonedeye.bandcamp.com/ : Rising from the ashes of absolutely nothing but the remnants of Uncle Earl's canned Budweiser in 2014, The Stone Eye is an electrifying rock band from Philadelphia, PA. Combining elements of grunge, stoner rock, alternative rock, progressive rock, & doom metal comes a hard hitting yet catchy style of music. Hell, we'd wager that there's even more styles of music which they draw inspiration from. Crazy, right? Following a plethora of releases dating back to 2014, The Stone Eye is at it yet again with their latest 2018 LP "Kevlar, Kryptonite, Gloria". This one's for you, Uncle Earl.

The Age of Truth (Philadelphia, PA) https://theageoftruth.bandcamp.com/:

The Age Of Truth is a band, a brotherhood and a mission. Four brothers-in-arms bring a fully stocked arsenal of riffs wrapped in a tone of honey-dipped Satan, The Age Of Truth blends fuzz and diesel fuel with elements of heavy blues, stoner rock and psychedelia. The perfect soundtrack for a barroom brawl that they know only as…the heaviness.

Like being thrown through a window. From Philadelphia.

Omen Stone (Richmond, VA) https://omenstones.bandcamp.com/ : HEAVY

Local up and comers Marshal Fuzz combine tight rhythm section serious riffage and soulful vocals to evoke the spirit of 70s metal and 90s grunge. They have been described as a combination of Black Sabbath and Muddy Waters..

Blue Heaven (Dream Pop)

Blue Heaven is what you would probably, most likely call a band. They basically play music. Very goodly i might add. 12/10 would recommend.

Blue Heaven is an indie pop band from Frederick, MD. From an interview with their drummer Matt Full: "When we first started the project we kept using the term “Dream Pop”. We wanted to write music with a specific alternative vibe in mind. We didn’t want to write mainstream pop music, and we also didn’t want to write specifically Indie Rock. We wanted to land right in the sweet spot between the two and write music that had the alternative influenced with the polished sound of pop. This is something The Cure accomplished long ago. They are a big inspiration to us."

The Fishermen Band

The Fishermen Band

Brothers Phillip and Lindsay Hough started The Fishermen Band in the late 90's, and for the last 20 years the band has toured extensively and supported some of the biggest names in music. Though they wrote in completely different styles, the Hough brothers music blended well and was always centered around vocal harmonies. During the coarse of their career, they sold out shows at LA's iconic stages, haunted SXSW venues in Austin Texas, performed at popular New York City dives, graced DCs most infamous clubs, appeared on radio and television, and played countless Colleges, Fundraisers, and Festivals in between. The band came full circle and planted a flag in DC in 2008, setting a foundation and building a new band with some of the best friends and fans on Earth. A decade later, The Fishermen Band is still performing in Washington DC.

Current members Drummer Chris Compton and Bassist Brian Waitzman helped to evolve the bands sound into a rock/funk/reggae/folk fusion, known for dramatic dynamics and upbeat dance-worthy tunes. The band has printed unique collectible CD's for every show they've played since 2004. Until 2017, outside of their hit single "Someday" and first iTunes album release "Vision", you could only get Fishermen Band music at one of their shows. Printing a unique CD per show since 2004 resulted in well over 1500 different versions of their records. Collectible discs can still be had at TFB shows in the Washington DC region, and the band plans to offer a Vinyl collection.

The Fun Boys

The Fun Boys are a Maryland based band and prefer to be called "The Fun Boys". One time on the way to summer camp a lady bug slipped into my slipper, what a friend! It's okay though, I got no bugs on me.  I went to Aunt JJ's last night to eat some ho-hos and got a hella-belly ache.  This band is cool I guess.  It hurts to play instruments, but it's okay!  I got no bugs on me (not)! I know the guy who owns this bar too.  Cool guy!  Lots-o-tats!  I can't wait to get tattoos too, dude.  Me and Sam and Colin and Matt and Andrew and Haas, we got lifer tattoos. Mine says "DOES MY FACE LO" and his says "OK LIKE A DRAGON".  Too fun! #toofun  The Fun Boys are from Frederick, MD.  They consist of 4 members at the same skill level.  You gotta see it.  It's a nightmare.

The Milestones (Rough & Ragged Indie Dance Rock) and Natalie Brooke

The Milestones formed in June 2014 with Alexander Wandres (vocals/guitar) and Christopher Metz (guitar/vocals). They set out to make rough and ragged indie dance rock with a garage punk vein, equal parts The Strokes, Kings of Leon, and Sonic Youth. Rooted in Frederick, the band cut their teeth playing local bars and quickly began to develop a dynamic, powerful, and cinematic sound with an electric live performance. They recorded the Old Souls EP and have been playing gigs all around Baltimore, DC and Frederick. Since formation, John Love (drums) and Tyler Hayes (bass) have found their place in the group. They have hit their songwriting stride and are recently released their latest EP, 'Honey.'

VICTORY BREWING COMPANY TAP TAKEOVER

BREWING AT VICTORY

Having trained in Germany, we appreciate the artistic freedom we have here in the U.S. Here, a fervent core of consumers embraces creativity, and we are happy to serve that audience with our experience in traditional methods, selection of choice, often imported ingredients, and the best processing that technology can offer us. We relish the opportunity to please both ourselves and our audience with our flavorful creations.

Bill Covaleski, Brewmaster & President

INGREDIENTS

At Victory we believe that the very best ingredients are necessary in order to brew the very best beer. Here, German malted barley, a mix of European and American whole flower hops, 45 unique yeast strains (for our wide variety of beers), and the highest quality local water is blended to create our refined brews.

Victory uses only the finest imported two-row malts, as German malts naturally tend to contain less tannins, which can impart an unappealing dry and bitter-like astringency in the brew.

Juicy, piney, citrusy, earthy, herbal and aromatic are just a few of the terms that can be used to describe the hop-deliciousness infused into Victory brews. This comes from our use of only the finest whole flower hops, in their most natural form.Victory is one of only a small handful of breweries in the country that exclusively uses whole flower hops in the brewhouse. While almost all other breweries use a processed and pelletized version, Bill and Ron insist on using the unprocessed whole flower form because it provides fuller flavor and a better aroma in the final product.

Our brewmasters—who have developed strong and trusting relationships with our hop farmers over years of working together— have access to limited and experimental whole flower varieties, such as Azacca, in greater quantities. Each year at the time of the hop harvest, Victory purchases enough of our whole flower hops for the year ahead and stores them frozen until used; the remaining crop is sent for processing and pelletization.

BREWING

Every brew begins with malt preparation. Victory’s imported German malts are first brought into the brewhouse via a conveyer system from our silo house. Both our Downingtown and Parkesburg mills employ a technology that softens and removes most, if not all, of the intact barley husk before the kernel inside is ground. Limiting the amount of husk in the ground malt produces a sweeter and less tannic wort and allows our brewmasters to introduce more pleasing bitter qualities through hop additions later in the brew.

The softened malt is transferred to the mash tun where it is mixed, activating enzymes which change the malt starches into simpler sugars. From there, the resulting mash is transferred to the lauter tun. The lauter tun acts as a strainer, separating the sugar and nutrient-rich wort (the liquid that will become beer) from the spent barley malt. The fresh wort moves to the brew kettles where the European and American whole flower hops are added to produce unique flavors and enticing aromas.

After a specified time, the hops are removed, and a whirlpool is used to sift out any remaining hop particles before the hopped wort is sent to the “cellar” where fermenting occurs.

Note: As a part of our commitment to sustainability, 100% of our spent grain is used to feed cattle and pigs at local farms and an animal sanctuary.

Once transferred to the fermentation tanks, we add specific yeast strains for each of our beers. The yeast converts the sugars from the brewing process into alcohol and carbon dioxide gas. Most of our beers are sent through our filtration system after fermentation and maturation. There all of the yeast particles are removed to prevent spoilage. Our unfiltered beers, like Sunrise Weiss, skip this step.

After the beer has been filtered (or not) it is kegged, bottled and/or canned.

The last step in the journey from ingredients to consumer is, of course, end user “quality assurance.” Every new brew here at Victory is personally taste tested by Bill and Ron.
