The Dirty Middle

The Dirty Middle is Blues and Americana mesh with a certain edginess. It’s roots rock without limits or stiffness from too much structure

Marshal Fuzz, an original DC based rock band that evokes the fuzzy blues rock tradition of classic rock bands such as Black Sabbath, The Jimi Hendrix Experience and Cream. Their sound has been described as a mesh of Black Sabbath and Muddy Waters. With Sulaiman Rahman on guitar and vocals, Vince Vezzi on bass, and Nick Rodousakis on drums they combine aggressive guitar riffs, extended live jams, soulful vocals and a tight rhythm section to capture the classic power trio sound with an original contemporary twist. What a rock band should be!! Formed in 2014, they spent most of the year in the studio writing material and developing their sound. They emerged out of rehearsals to begin tearing up the DC/MD/VA Mid-Atlantic scene, establishing themselves as THE force to be reckoned with on any stage.

DJ Two Teks (Bang Bang)

AJ Naylor, also known as “DJ Two Teks” I Started DJIN in 1993 with my best friend Shannon who bought a pair of turntables and a mixer from a auction. We sat it up in his bedroom where we started to teach ourselves how to DJ and we became addicted to learning how to become DJ’s. A few years later I bought my own tables and mixer . Just like most DJ’s I started out in my bedroom with just a handful of records that I got from my uncle and other family members. I practiced every day for hours on end; scratching, mixing and beat juggling trying to be like some of the DJ’s I grew up listening to.

Moving forward. I started DJIN in night clubs in the late 90’ early 2000’s from Frederick MD to DC and Baltimore. In 2004 I attended Scratch DJ Academy in NYC and while attending I started teaching beginners lessons at Scratch DJ Academy. A few years later I found myself teaching at the Frederick Rock School.

In 2008 I started a party called BANGBANG at Cafe Nola in Frederick MD, it was the first true dance party in Frederick. I would play all music genres for the perfect sound. The party grew across the DMV and had DJ’s from all over attend. It’s 2018 and it’s still Frederick’ s number one dance party.

Marzy Maddox, Hostile Array, Sideshow Cinema

Marzy Maddox is a progressive rock/metal trio based out of Frederick, MD.
New full length record “Catching Up To Massimo” OUT NOW ON ALL PLATFORMS!

Based in Frederick, Maryland, Hostile Array formed in early 2017 by brothers Brendan Frey and Garrison Frey, along with longtime friends Hector Fernandez, Fredy Menjivar, and Andrew Markle. The band released their first single, “Devoid”, in July of 2017, which focused on the tragedy of civilian casualties in the Middle East, and US intervention policies. Pulling from a variety of influences such as Underoath, Norma Jean, and Architects, the band delivers a diverse and unique blend of sounds, while maintaining a message that questions the status quo of political and social issues.

In June 2018, the band independently released their debut self-titled album, described by Metal Hammer Magazine as a "well-balanced blend of heavy and catchy post-hardcore fueled by fiercely political lyrics".

Sideshow Cinema is a metallic hardcore band based out of Washington, D.C. that released their debut album “Palace” on Flesh and Bone Records earlier this year. Blending chaotic and catchy riffs, bludgeoning drum-work, and commanding vocals, the band crafts songs that pay homage to their influences while injecting their own unique ideas.

FFO: Converge, Every Time I Die, Great American Ghost

“Sideshow Cinema entirely proves their worth in not only the DC hardcore scene but the metalcore movement as a whole.” - Maxwell Heilman, Amped Sound

Samuel Powers

As a throwback to a decade full of their most beloved sitcoms, (where the quintet derived the content for their music) Samuel Powers is a band living in the 90's. The group formed in 2013 to self release their first EP "The Bayside Tigers," a basement-rock soap opera about characters from the TV show "Saved by the Bell." Shortly after they went back into the studio to record their newest EP "Empty Halls, Future Friends," a five song coming of age story drawn from the episodes of the heart-wrenching "Boy Meets World." But if reliving moments from your favorite childhood television programs isn't enough, Sam Pow brings an emotional and fun live performance that will take you back to your youth.

Please join us for a night of music featuring the hits of the past forty years mixed with over fifteen originals that will be on their upcoming album, Songs for Darla, which is expected to be released this December. For listeners of classic doo wop with a Klezmer spin, this is the show for you!

DJ Two Teks (Bang Bang)

Immersed in the hip hop subculture of the 1980s, AJ Naylor a.k.a. DJ
TwoTeks taught himself how to cut and scratch on Technics 1200s by
mimicking the sounds of DJ Jazzy Jeff, Eric B, and Jam Master Jay.
From there, he studied VHS tapes by the Invisible Scratch Pickles, DJ
Qbert, and DMC World DJ Championships competitions to refine his beat
juggling skills.

In the 1990s, he was featured on rap albums of local artists in
Frederick, MD, and released a series of mixtapes. In 2002, DJ TwoTeks
attended class at Scratch DJ Academy in New York City, NY and further
honed his skillset by studying under DJ I.Emerge, DJ Evil Dee, Rob
Swift, Mista Sinista, and Neil Armstrong. He started out as a battle
DJ, and has been scratching and beat juggling for the majority of his
career.

DJ TwoTeks does limit himself to any particular genre of sub-genre of
music, which is evident his sets and digital music collection. He has
DJ'd at venues in San Diego, CA; Washington, DC; Frederick and
Baltimore, MD; Boston, MA; and New York City, NY alongside DJ Craze,
DJ Qbert, Biz Markie and Sharkey. Currently, he is the resident DJ of

Suga Grits

Suga Grits is a power funk and jam project from Washington, DC. Beginning as a trio in 2017,consisting of drums, bass and keyboards, the band has now expanded to include horns and a one of a kind vocalist. While the group itself is young, its members each have their own seasoned history in music. From theatre pit crews to weddings to jazz to rock to funk and hip hop, these guys have seen and done it all. As a trio, Suga Grits brought some serious heat to the studio and the stage, creating a sort of tribal vibe within their funk regime. Now, as a five-piece, the group has brought its abilities to new heights. The majestic voice of vocalist Dev Duff will lift your spirits on its own. But with the powerful, succinct drumming of David Suggs, grooving bass of James McCreavy, blaring sax of Dan Janis and creative keys of Turk Gaines behind him, the band is unstoppable. Their live performances are expanding into experimental realms, featuring improvisational mastery, funky solo sections and, most of all, a groove that is untouchable. Due to the longstanding relationship between the core three members, the band’s repertoire is extensive. Turk, James and David have played together for years, including wedding gigs, theatre pit crews, backing a local hip hop artist and more. These experiences allow the band to flawlessly adapt to any environment and bring any crowd to its feet. They have a laundry list of cover tunes at their disposal, as well as their own original music for display.

Rooted in Frederick, the band cut their teeth playing local bars and quickly began to develop a dynamic, powerful, and cinematic sound with an electric live performance. They recorded the Old Souls EP and have been playing gigs all around Baltimore, DC and Frederick. Since formation, John Love (drums) and Tyler Hayes (bass) have found their place in the group. Fort Defiance

Fort Defiance is an Americana duo from Nashville, Tennessee, hailed for their honest songwriting, timeless harmonies, and high-energy stage performance.

Meeting in the summer of 2014, Jordan Eastman and Laurel Lane began touring together under the promise they would not attempt to date each other - one year later, they were married and had developed such a chemistry that requests for shows came pouring in.

In response, they quit their jobs, moved into the van, and began touring relentlessly - playing over 250 shows, in 46 states the first year, without the help of management or outside booking agents - and they haven't slowed down since.

With another 250 shows lined up for 2017, their passion and grassroots sincerity has garnered heavy attention from around the country, causing critics to call them "breathtakingly seductive" (That Music Mag), "perfectly haunting" (The Indie Sound) and "a pure, honest voice in a town know for the opposite" (SlyVinyl).

Their newest release, a crowd funded effort called The Haunts of Youth, was made available on March, 2017.

Ginada Pinata

Ginada Pinata taps the influences of jazz, funk, rock, fusion, trance and drum and bass, blending them to create an organic vibe that continually entertains and excites audiences at each and every show. Founded in Shepherdstown, WV in 1998 (and getting funkier all the time) Ginada has relentlessly pushed the musical envelope in search of new sounds and feels. The result is a stylistic collage which truly sets them apart in their genre. 2001 brought the release of “Talking to the Boss,” a recording which at once highlighted the musicianship of the group while serving as the musical template from which they have evolved into one of the area’s most formidable improvisational groups. Over the years Ginada Pinata has played many festivals and clubs including Opera House Live, Sunshine Daydream, 123 Pleasant St., The Barns of Wolftrap, The Velvet Lounge and countless other music venues in the greater Mid-Atlantic region. Their drive is to produce a live show which consistently redraws the boundaries of the traditional quartet – and they’re only getting started.

Their sound has been described as a mesh of Black Sabbath and Muddy Waters. With Suliaman Rahman on guitar and vocals, Greg Lane on bass and Nate Matzinger on drums they combine aggressive guitar riffs, extended live jams, soulful vocals and a tight rhythm section to capture the classic power trio sound with an original, contemporary twist. The Knotty G's

Gill sang in the shower and she got good.
Chuck played guitar in the shower. He ruined all of his guitars but he got pretty good too I guess.

Chuck Knott and "Jill with a G" form the funky and fun-loving folk duo known as The Knotty G's. Formed in Asheville, NC, they travel the country serving up soul in a hearty original recipe of pan-seared-boot-stomping-upbeat tunes, slow-cooked-captivating ballads, and even a few beaten-battered-deep-fried covers. Nothing short of a stir fry of fun, these characters can certainly satiate even the biggest of musical appetites.

Currently, he is the resident DJ of
a monthly party held in downtown Frederick.

Silent Old Mtns (Silent Old Mountains) is an American indie rock band, formed in Frederick, Maryland in 2011 by singer songwriter Andrew Bromhal. They have released one full-length album and are most noted for their energetic and theatrical live shows.[1] They are also well known for their promotion of the indie music scene and DIY ethic:[2] touring the country in a repurposed school bus[3] and averaging over 100 live performances per year despite having no corporate backing.[4] DC Rock Live music blog's David Hintz describes their sound as "a whacked out brand of Americana folk rock that dives headlong into psyche terrain frequently."
